A aldeia mais antiga \u00e9 Cocal (antigo Posto Ind\u00edgena Guaj\u00e1), localizada na Terra Ind\u00edgena (TI) Alto Turia\u00e7u. Na TI Caru, territ\u00f3rio compartilhado com os Tenetehara (Guajajara), est\u00e3o as aldeias Tiracambu e Nova Sami\u1ef9. J\u00e1 na TI Aw\u00e1, a \u00faltima a ser demarcada, est\u00e1 localizada a aldeia Juriti.<\/p>\n\n              <\/div>\n            <\/div>\n          <\/div>\n        <\/section>\n\n\n        <section class=\"conteudo\">\n          <div class=\"container\">\n            <div class=\"row\">\n              <div class=\"col-md-12 conteudo content margin-center text-md-\">\n                \n<p>Os Aw\u00e1-Guaj\u00e1 s\u00e3o considerados pelo Estado brasileiro como um povo de recente contato e, por isso, vivem sob sua forte tutela. Desde o contato com n\u00e3o-ind\u00edgenas, a sua hist\u00f3ria &nbsp; tem sido marcada, ao longo de d\u00e9cadas, por genoc\u00eddios e pela viol\u00eancia. H\u00e1 amea\u00e7as de destrui\u00e7\u00e3o ambiental e de invas\u00e3o de territ\u00f3rios por madeireiros e posseiros, al\u00e9m da viol\u00eancia que vem no rastro destas atividades ilegais. Mais recentemente, a duplica\u00e7\u00e3o da Estrada de Ferro Caraj\u00e1s tamb\u00e9m comprometeu as terras dos povos Aw\u00e1-Guaj\u00e1.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n              <\/div>\n            <\/div>\n          <\/div>\n        <\/section>\n\n\n        <section class=\"conteudo\">\n          <div class=\"container\">\n            <div class=\"row\">\n              <div class=\"col-md-12 conteudo content margin-center text-md-\">\n                \n<p>Ainda assim, os Aw\u00e1-Guaj\u00e1 t\u00eam resistido para se manterem vivos e seguirem com um modo de vida essencialmente ligado \u00e0 floresta. O profundo conhecimento sobre a mata, os animais e as plantas revela formas de a\u00e7\u00e3o que evidenciam o quanto s\u00e3o respons\u00e1veis por manter viva a floresta remanescente no Maranh\u00e3o. No entanto, apesar da resili\u00eancia, s\u00e3o not\u00e1veis os impactos irrevers\u00edveis das amea\u00e7as aos direitos territoriais.<\/p>\n\n              <\/div>\n            <\/div>\n
